Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) is one of India’s major steel producers.
One of the core values of Jindal is the Sustainable Development, and the company is strongly committed in operate with sustainable environmental friendly procedures and practices.
The company planned in 2010 the construction of a new plant for steel production, located in Oman, with a capacity of 1.5 Million Tons Per Annum of steel 14production. Mandatory for this plant is a dedicated plant with a huge capacity of depuration and cooling of the water used in the process. The technology chosen for the cooling, due to the lack of clean water, was heat exchanger by sea water.
Simem provided a complete treatment, for a total flow rate of 14.640 m3/h.
The water treatment plant is composed by:
- Clarification and oil removal
- Sand filtration
- Cooling towers for Direct cooling plant, 1.320 mc/h
- Cooling towers for indirect cooling plant, 13.320 mc/h
- Cooling towers for sea water open circuit plant, 16.120 mc/h
The heat exchanger are realized in titanium, due to the necessity of using sea water for the cooling.
